Biography

Alisha M. Hardman is an associate professor of human development and family science (HDFS) and the program chair for the undergraduate HDFS and graduate prevention science and family and community services programs in the School of Human Sciences at Kansas State University. She is the K-State faculty coordinator for the family and community services program.

Hardman is a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) and has over 15 years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention and community-based family life education programs. Prior to K-State, Hardman spent nine years at Mississippi State University (MSU) where she was a Family Life and Program Evaluation Extension Specialist. Her applied research and programming experiences focus on the prevention of relational trauma and adverse childhood experiences through equipping caregivers (i.e., parents) and professionals to interact with children, youth, and families in trauma-informed ways.

Hardman has been teaching on campus and through distance education for more than 10 years. She co-developed a Trauma-Informed Child Advocacy certificate at her previous institution and is a trained facilitator of problem-based learning simulations. Hardman teaches undergraduate and graduate students' topics such as family relationships, program development and implementation, and program evaluation.
