Biography

Amie Zarling conducts research from a multidisciplinary, multi-method approach, bridging clinical psychology, family science, and criminal justice to prevent and treat domestic violence and provide interventions for justice-involved youth and families. 

Her work focuses on developing trauma-informed and strengths-based methods and programs to empower behavior change for individuals and families. She evaluates violence intervention programs for adults and youth who have caused harm, including those aimed at preventing and treating family violence and intimate partner violence. In addition, Zarling trains professionals in the use of strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches, such as motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy. Her efforts also include disseminating evidence-based interventions designed to improve relationships and enhance the overall well-being of individuals and families.
