Overview

Course Description

This course provides students the opportunity to learn about the establishment of the Land Grant University system and its impact on higher education and society. Students will learn about history and events that led to the passage of the Morrill Acts (1862, 1890) that established the Land Grant System and consider the influence of the Act on contemporary higher education institutions. Specific focus will be given to the tripartite Land Grant mission of teaching, research and extension, and its role in addressing the contemporary challenges facing higher education. Students will interact with leaders and influencers in higher education and have access to their insights regarding the future of the Land Grant University system.

Course Access

 
Approximately 2-3 weeks before the first day of class at K-State, the K-State campus coordinator, Ashley Schultz, will email course access instructions to visiting students for courses taught by K-State. These instructions are also available on the Visiting Students webpage at K-State. By following the course access instructions, visiting students create their K-State eID and complete the K-State Course Access Form. Students meeting all deadlines for eID creation and submission will have access to Canvas by the first day of class.

Comments

This course requires synchronous weekly zoom sessions each Monday from 6pm - 8:50pm CT. Please email the instructors beforehand if a significant conflict arises and you are unable to attend one of the scheduled zoom class sessions.
